We are seeking candidates for a one-year postdoc position (renewable up to 3 years) for agent-based modelling and simulation of social phenomena.
Our group, the Laboratory of Agent Based Social Simulation (LABSS), is part of the Institute of Cognitive Sciences and Technologies (ISTC) of the Italian National Research Council (CNR) and located in central Rome, Italy.
We are a highly interdisciplinary research group working at the intersection of cognitive, social, and computational sciences (labss.istc.cnr.it/). Accordingly, the position requires a team player with a willingness to thrive in a highly interdisciplinary environment. The laboratory welcomes researchers from all countries and operates mainly in the context of EU-funded research.
The postdoctoral researcher will mainly work on the development of ABM simulations on several of our research lines, including: 1) evolution of social norms; 2) reputation systems and their effect on echo chambers; 3) simulation of mechanisms to expose the value of externalities; 4) simulation of recruitment in organised crime and terrorist networks.
Mathematical modelling and programming skills are essential. Knowledge of agent-based simulation platforms, for example NetLogo, and statistical analysis tools, for example R, is a plus.
While highly desirable, a PhD is not an essential requirement. We will also consider candidates who are nearing the end of their PhD.
The successful applicant is expected to join the team as soon as possible.
The call will be opened online shortly.
